Ban and revoke - the politics of bad decision making

What do politicians do when they can't find a solution to a problem? They ban. What happens when they have to face the music from a lot of places inclusing powerful corporate lobby groups? They revoke the same ban. The Karnataka government has just revoked the ban it had placed on the sale of soft drinks in and around educational institutions, hospitals and government offices.

They should never ban stuff, just hike the taxes. Say instead of the 8% they should make it 160%. then no one will have a problem.

Which is exactly what happens in S'pore. They didn't want cigarettes and so they imposed a tax of 250% on it and people stopped buying it... Imagine one cigarette costs 3 dollars. 90 bucks of a cigarette ... man any ass would just go to the one dollar shop and buy stuff.. hehe
